Call of Duty: Warzone meta loadouts and high-kill games

klaw posts long Call of Duty: Warzone videos almost every day, built around meta loadouts and high-kill games. Every thumbnail is the same shot: first-person blue-gloved hands showing off one gun in bright pink or purple camo against a pale, sunny sky.

Compared with the median of the last 30 uploads: 18K views.

105 Kills w/ #1 WARZONE SNIPER Meta on Rebirth Island πŸ‘‘ (watch on YouTube, new tab)

A purple crystal sniper rifle with a large scope, the left hand holding up a bullet. Sniper uploads are rarer than SMG ones in his feed, so the frame looks different in a row of his videos. But 'The #1 LEGACY SNIPER META Loadout', with a near-identical sniper thumbnail, got about 9,900 views, so the image alone doesn't explain the gap.

106 Kills w/ #1 FASTEST Movement on Rebirth Island πŸ‘‘ (watch on YouTube, new tab)

A pink crystal SMG with a long suppressor, held up on a diagonal. It looks almost the same as uploads that got 15,000 to 20,000 views, so the difference more likely came from the title (a kill count plus 'FASTEST Movement') or from timing than from the image.

102 Kills on Warzone πŸ‘‘ + #1 BEST SNIPER Loadout (watch on YouTube, new tab)

Another purple sniper with the bullet held up. Two of his three biggest videos in the sample are sniper loadouts with a kill count in the title. That is a pattern worth watching, not proof.

Thumbnail style

What klaw's thumbnails have in common

  • One shot, repeated

All 30 thumbnails use the same scene: the weapon-inspect view on the same rooftop (a '28' is painted on the wall behind), an overexposed sky, and blue-gloved hands holding the gun. Only the gun and its camo change from one upload to the next.

  • The gun is the subject

No face, no character, no text. The weapon fills the middle of the frame on a diagonal, which is exactly what a loadout viewer wants to see.

  • Loud camo, one sticker

The guns wear glowing pink or purple crystal-crack camo; the six newest switch to a blue and pink swirl, and the oldest in the sample has a rainbow liquid pattern. Every gun carries the same red box sticker reading 'Splendid', a small repeated mark.

  • The title does the selling

Titles carry every claim: a kill count ('110 Kills'), '#1', 'META', 'NEW', the weapon name, and a crown emoji at the end of every one. The thumbnail only shows which gun.

  • Snipers hold up a bullet

In sniper videos the left hand holds a single brass round next to the scope. It is the only change in pose across the sample, and it makes sniper uploads easy to tell apart.

What you can borrow

Ideas to take to your own channel

  1. A fixed shot makes a channel instantly recognisable in a subscriber's feed; klaw's rooftop inspect view never changes.
  2. If your audience comes for gear, make the gear the whole thumbnail and keep everything else constant.
  3. Put numbers that prove skill in the title. In klaw's sample, the 15 titles with a kill count had a median of about 23,000 views against about 16,000 for the 15 without, and all five of his biggest videos had one.
  4. A bright, unusual camo colour keeps a gun readable against a pale background at small sizes.
  5. A fully identical template leaves the thumbnail little room to win a click on its own, so test adding one element that changes per video.

Best multiple

105 Kills w/ #1 WARZONE SNIPER Meta on Rebirth Island πŸ‘‘

YouTube rounds public counts (118K, 1.2M…), so every number here is approximate. The multiple is a video's views divided by the median of the channel's recent uploads: Γ—3 means three times the usual audience. A high multiple is a lead worth studying, not proof that the thumbnail caused it: the topic, the timing and YouTube's recommendations play a part too. Click-through rate and impressions are private; only the channel owner can see them.

Every one is the same first-person shot: two blue-gloved hands holding up a gun with bright pink, purple or swirl camo, on a rooftop under a pale, sunny sky. There is no face and no text. Only the gun model and the camo change; the title carries the kill count and the claim.
What game does klaw play?
